General Information

  1. Performance Categories
    The Competition (Section ‡T & ‡U) & Festa comprises the following three categories:
    Section ‡T: String Quartet
    Section ‡U: The following wind ensembles: Wind Quintet, Saxophone Quartet, Brass Quintet
    Festa: Chamber music ensembles consisting of two to six performers.
    The instrumental combinations are free.
  2. Selection Procedures
    Judgment in the Competition will be made during the 1st, 2nd and Final rounds. Evaluation in the Festa will
    be made at the Preliminary and Final rounds. All performances will be public.

    Prizewinners' Concert May 25 (Wed), 2011
    (Note) The Final Round of Section ‡T and ‡U will be held on the same day.
    The Awards Presentation will be held after the Final Round of Festa.

  4. Venue
    Izumi Hall (Osaka, Japan)

  5. Musical Instruments for Festa Applicants
    The organizer will not provide any instruments other than two Steinways and one Yamaha pianos, each tuned at a pitch of 442 and one Atelier Von Nagel harpsichord (French, double manual). Irregular styles of piano rendition shall be prohibited.
    Any instrument too loud or inappropriate for chamber music cannot be used. Using electric musical instruments is not permitted, except for those using built-in speakers alone.
    Vocal performances are not permitted, except for one vocal part in an instrumental ensemble.


  6. Copyrights
    The rights to record and broadcast the performances of these events belong to the Organizer, as do all rights regarding production, commercializing, etc. of any resulting CDs and/or DVDs.


  7. Others
    Any problems that may arise, regarding the Competition & Festa, shall be resolved in accordance with the original Japanese text and Japanese Law. The Organizer reserves the right to make additions, corrections or changes to the clauses in the Rules and Regulations even after their publication.
