Participation and Judgment
- Qualifying Screening
Qualifying criteria will be based on submitted documents and recordings. The results of that screening will be mailed to all applying ensembles by January 15, 2011.
- Approval of Participation
The Secretariat will mail the "Participation Guidelines" containing detailed information regarding participation to each selected ensemble. If an ensemble changes its members after being approved for participation in the Competition or the Festa, that ensemble will, in principle, be disqualified.
- Entry Fee
Selected ensembles willing to participate in the event must pay an entry fee of \20,000 Japanese yen by February 15, 2011. Remittance methods, including a specified bank account, shall be indicated in the "Participation Guidelines".
- Confirmation of Arrival
Participating ensembles should have their arrival confirmed at the designated time, date and place. In principle, an ensemble that fails to arrive at the specified place and time cannot participate in the event.
- Practice Facilities
The Organizer will, as a rule, provide the participating ensembles with a free-of-charge practice room for three hours a day, starting from the day before the 1st Round (Preliminary Round, in the case of the Festa), and as long as they qualify to participate in further rounds. Practice on the day of performance is possible only immediately before the performance.
- Performing Order
The performing order for the 1st Round (Preliminary Round) will be decided by drawing lots two days before the Round in accordance with previously specified methods. The order for the 2nd Round will be decided by drawing lots immediately after the 1st Round is completed for all participants. The order for the Final Round will be decided by drawing lots immediately after the 2nd Round (Preliminary Round).
- Repertoire
Ensembles participating in the Competition must select works from the repertoire listed on pages 23, 24 and 25.
Ensembles participating in the Festa may perform any work, provided that the performance does not exceed 30 minutes, including the time between individual works, and between movements. Ensembles can perform either the same or different works for the Preliminary and Final rounds.
- Judgment
Judgment of the Competition will be made by a jury in accordance with the judging rules.
Evaluation of the Festa will be made in accordance with the separately specified rules by a hundred members of the audience jury for the Preliminary and Final Rounds.
Any decision of the jury shall be final and without appeal.
- Announcement of the Results
The results of the respective rounds will be announced at the venue, after completion of the performances scheduled for the day. The result of the Preliminary Round of the Festa will be announced after completion of all the performances of the second day.
